Poem: The Deconstruction of Reality

Poem: The Deconstruction of Reality 1920 1200 Nadir Keval

Poetic Imbalance.
Serious Focus.
What happens to the creative mind…
When it’s engulfed by societal crimes?
A world full of judges,
with a rare occurrence to find a righteous one.

Whatever happened to living without the counting?
Why not enjoy the beauty of quality over quantity?
Stop looking for the fountain of everything,
and learn to love your simplicity, even if it leaves you with nothing.

Differences are what make the world beautiful,
Find yourself unique, and you will find sublimity.
Similarities often bring us together,
But tear us apart when they’re made to be the basis of our future.

You are your own, and I am as well.
When we don’t enjoy these factors,
We leave each other bruises to eternally swell.
But we can bring a cease to existence,
of these wretched scenes.
We need to find embrace and acceptance,
and need to become happiness-fiends.

Only then will things change. Only then will hope arise.
Now go clean the dirt off your heart.
And don’t forget to wipe the crap off your eyes.

Poem: Refreshing

Poem: Refreshing 853 1280 Nadir Keval

This is a poem for,

All the people out there,

That have felt for a soul,

Only to be left not knowing where to go.

Life made it hard to believe,

That you could ever aspire,

To be any more than what was told,

To you by others as your purpose and role.

I’m here to tell you,

You are pure like the morning dew,

Beautiful like the sun the moment before it rises,

Enchanting like the fresh scent of the skies.

No one can tell you that you aren’t these things,

For the world doesn’t know you like I do.

Every moment brings out a change.

Try to live out life holding onto the reigns.

If you ever fall, just climb back up,

And know that I’ll be there if you ever feel like giving up.

The world may seem like it’s breaking you down,

But don’t worry, just keep your soul sound.

Because…

You are wonderful, like an angel,

More elegant than a rose.

You are strong as a lion.

But with a soft soul, like a bird.

You are relief when the world is too much to bear,

You are that extra helping, when there’s nothing left to spare.

We are friends, we are companions,

Two dreamers, untold.

Our stories remain silent,

Until we choose to let go.

Let your spirit shine brightly,

Let the world hear your song.

Let your heartbeat be your rhythm,

As you move on, breaking ground.

You are everything to believe in,

A miracle in yourself.

For you were solely created,

As the one to live out your path.

Be swift like the ocean,

Stand tall like the trees.

Know that you are a fountain,

Of greatness to be achieved.

You are awesome in your essence,

More precious than a snowflake.

You are a special token,

To giving my life a stronger seed.

I may be speaking selfish,

But you’ve helped me become me.

Poem: Coming To Be

Poem: Coming To Be 1024 768 Nadir Keval

How many times have I called you,
When you were away?
Trying to find new ways
Everyday
To make you see
How much you mean to me?

Once a year, the world celebrates valentines day,
But I want to celebrate you everyday.
I’ll make sure your every day will be
Like an unforgettable dream.
One that you wouldn’t want to believe
In fear of being too good to be true,
For how can anyone love anyone as much as I love you?

We’ve met a few times before,
In dreams and prayers,
But never in person.
It remains a disappointment to me
That our chemistry hasn’t yet seen that breeze,
That’s meant to spark our evident lover’s decree.

I believe that you and me
Are meant to defy gravity
Soaring through the skies we come to see,
That there’s a special cloud 9 made just for you and me.

Now I know all this sounds metaphorical,
But what if I told it’s how I felt?
That moment that I lay eyes on you,
I pinched myself, doubting that my dream may have come true.

See, long ago, I had a vision,
A fantasy of what you’d be like.
With no need for any type of addition,
To your image, to your heart, to your person.

I can still recall,
The beginning of my heart’s fall.
You walked by,
No notice or sign,
That you’d be that one for me.
You were so elegant,
No makeup, simple clothing.
But you seemed the most precious,
When I saw your smile.
I knew then that I was smitten,
This was the girl.
The one I’d spend my life with.
The one I’d cherish every moment with.
All that remained, was finding out how we’d come to be each other’s blessings…

Priorities in Life

Priorities in Life 1238 912 Nadir Keval

I can’t remember the last time I had an actual conversation with someone that required some intellect and world knowledge.

Nowadays, people hardly have conversations because they’re always on the go, trying to reach some financial or career goal, or things like that.

What ever happened to the simple joys of using your mind for sincere, in-depth thought?

Why don’t people just slow down and smell the roses? And don’t say it’s cause the world works that way.

YOU make your own world.

YOU decide what you do with your life, and whether or not you’ll be a slave to society’s views on success.

What do you want out of life? What are you willing to do to get it? What will you compromise? What are your priorities?

I just find that people today are so focused on worldly things that are temporary, that they forget about focusing on the things that have deeper meaning. For example: the guy that says, “I won’t have a conversation with someone unless it’ll help me with my work/school/etc.” WHAT IS THAT?!?! What about just taking a moment to talk to someone, purely for the sake of just sharing thoughts on life? No complaining, no whining, none of that. Just talking about thoughts on life, or how the world is such an amazing and beautiful place, but we so often miss it?

What about the guys and girls that say, “I wanna finish school before I focus on my faith,” or, “I won’t get married until I’m stable with my job and career,” or, “Living here in Canada/United States requires us to modify Islam to fit what the norm is.”

First off…

School = this life.

Faith = Hereafter.

Career = this life.

Marriage = Hereafter. (and a 50% passing grade freebie for your Life test – read on if you don’t know what I mean)

Pleasing people = this life.

Pleasing Allah = Hereafter.

Think about what is most important to you as a Muslim. We don’t know when we’ll die and have to face Allah’s judgment, and so, why can’t we put as much, if not more focus on pleasing Allah and preparing for the Judgment Day, as we put on passing that class or getting that degree? What is the degree going to get you? Yes, Insha Allah, it’ll give you an opportunity at a job/career, a stable income, and a sense of security for you and your family. I’m not saying that education is bad. In fact, I’m an advocate towards lifelong learning, and constantly seeking knowledge in the way that best suits you and your learning style. But, that job, that stable income, that security, is all from Allah, and He can take it away just as easily as He gave it to you. There’s no guarantee. BUT, if you trust in Allah, then you know for certain that He will provide for you what you need, and whatever stresses or difficulties you face will in fact be blessings in disguise, as Allah says:

“And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things.” [Surah At-Taubah, Chapter 65, Verses 2-3]

You can relate that verse to so many different factors of our lives. This include school, faith, career, marriage, pleasing others, pleasing Allah, and whatever else you face in life.

You may ask, why would I put career and marriage in the same category? It’s because we find too many people putting such a huge focus on their careers and not bothering with marriage, thinking that marriage will actually deter them from their school work. To be honest, I have never seen a case where a couple has lost their focus or done worse in school because of their marriage. In fact, I’ve actually seen the opposite. The reason, they explained to me, was that by being married, you build a foundation of support, trust and understanding with the person you marry. You don’t need to look for support, because your spouse will stand by you as you reach your goals. You build a trust, because during the growing phases of your life, you stand together and help each other along the way. And you build an understanding of each other, where you know what matters to your spouse, and you both learn to better understand and compromise (which are both HUGE key ingredients to a successful marriage). You grow together into one unit. You learn to build that bond that is unmatched by any other. The bond of marriage so beloved to Allah. It’s one of the greatest things you can do for yourself and your future in this life and the Hereafter.

That makes so much sense to me. When you’re not married, and I can vouch for this, you become so tied up with school, a career, and making money, that you don’t find time to balance and prioritize things. There are more important things in life than just school and career. There’s family, health, and most importantly, faith.

We need to begin reflecting on this, as it bring me to my next point: pleasing Allah vs. pleasing people. Don’t get me wrong, Islam teaches being good to others, and to treat people with the utmost level of care and kindness. But, it is done through the remembrance of God, and the emulation of the life of the Prophet. When someone asks you to do something that deters you from pleasing God, or makes you do something that is Haraam, then it is of no benefit to you. Please Allah, and He will make others who matter be pleased with you. Besides, He is the Owner of hearts, the Provider of all things, and the Most Generous.

Think about it. It was a great reminder for me. Hopefully, it was for you too.

Poem: Searching To Be Found

Poem: Searching To Be Found 1024 768 Nadir Keval

In all my years of searching for the one,
I never came across such a woman…
who would love me with her heart and soul,
holding me to her, saying that I make her whole.
No matter what I did,
I felt like I was missing that bit,
That made her right for me.
They were all just a lil short of being worthy of my lady,
Always thinking of themselves,
And not putting any thought into true love.

Then I met her,
Completing me,
Giving me a skip in my beat,
She came and made me.
Life became a joyous occasion,
With every breath being a new beginning.
A new chance to love her in a new way,
As we gave each other all we crave:
A love, a companion,
A relationship, a blessing.
No words of any poet can explain it all,
It can be described only through the sigh of a lover’s heart.

Poem: Where do you wanna be?

Poem: Where do you wanna be? 984 1200 Nadir Keval

Reflect. Think. Do.
Done. Thought. Reflected.
Life is a journey meant to be lived.
Life is a drive-thru to eternity,
Of cool bliss or hot misery.
Stay true to your soul,
Turn your dreams into goals.
That’s what’ll get you what you need:
Happiness and a heart soaring free.
The question is: Where do you wanna be?

Poem: Into The Horizon

Poem: Into The Horizon 1920 1080 Nadir Keval

It was the first time I had seen the horizon
Sunset rising, bringing a glisten to my eyes.
I wondered how this could be,
since it still wasn’t morning,
And realized it wasn’t the sun.
It was the twinkle in your eyes.
At that moment, I began to smile,
Thinking how I could thank The Almighty,
For bringing me someone like you,
A woman for whom I was surely
not worthy I held your hands tightly,
told you to close your eyes.
For that small simple moment
It felt we were breathing the same life.
I walked over to my corner
Raised my hands in praise Of God,
showing gratitude for who He sent my way.
I looked to you and smiled again.
I hope our smiles never fade away.
You mean to me more than can be said
No words can describe it,
This is just meant to be felt.
The world called me crazy
Said that love doesn’t work this way.
As time passes by, they say love fades away.
I refuse to believe these words
As my Prophet (pbuh) said to think pure.
As long as our love is based on our love for God…
God-willing, we’ll always find our love prosper.
May Allah make our love last as a sign of success
In this life and in the Next.
God-willing, this life will be filled with bliss and laughter
But, to be honest,
I’m more excited about spending my life with you in the Hereafter.

So many results!!!

So many results!!! 1000 1000 Nadir Keval

Have you ever googled yourself? I remember, as a child, I would get so excited about searching my name on the internet, and see maybe one picture of myself. I actually remember it precisely as being the one from my first venture into the world of making money…

…drifts into memory…

I was in grade 11, in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, and had just developed and founded the IB Fundraising Group. My objective was to raise money for students in Kenya that were trying to go to University. I learned that it would cost $400 (Canadian) for one student to attend university for an entire year! I thought to myself, “THAT’S IT?!?! I should move there!” (just kidding). So, I made it my mission to raise $400 in that one semester (4 months) so that we could send a student that we were sponsoring through a local education-based organization. I began doing my research, contacting different people, having meetings with my teams, and by the end of it, we were selling handcrafted jewelry from the town in Kenya these students were from, and bathbombs and glass animals our classmates made for Chemistry class credit.

A local newspaper heard about what we were doing, and sent a reporter to talk to us and our teacher about our plans. My picture was in the newspaper, and it was the first time I felt that I had made a difference!

After that semester, I decided (I’m not sure if this was because of a drive for more recognition or more of a sense of accomplisment…it was probably a little bit of both) to work on raising more money by selling with a new marketing and advertising plan. Well, with the help of my team, it worked, because in the next four months, we were able to raise just over $7000!!

WHAT A FEELING! Giving back and also leaving an impression on the world. It was phenomenal. I was really happy about what I had accomplished, and was sure that I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives (including mine) with everything I do.

…back to reality…

I tried looking for that newspaper article online, or at least the picture, but couldn’t find anything.

Google yourself and tell me what you found! I’m always interested in hearing about these mini adventures! 🙂

Money Vs. Passion

Money Vs. Passion 2074 3172 Nadir Keval

You know, in the last little while, I have been faced with some questions that could be life-changing. See, I have some projects that have suggested to me, and show signs of great potential financially. But, the question arises as to whether I am passionate about the things I would be getting into by doing these projects.

See, I’ve never wanted to get so involved in the financial benefits of something that I lose focus on its purpose. I mean, sure, with more money, you can accomplish more things. Let’s face it, sounds superficial, but money makes getting around easier. But, I mean, with money, there’s also to temptation and overwhelming drive towards wanting more, and increasing your list of wants, neglecting your list of needs. What about your future? What about your dreams and aspirations?

If you were afraid of losing your passion, would you pursue something like this? What if this holds potential to help you so much in your goals?

See, I think I will do my prayers, think to myself, and come to a decision. Then, and only then will I feel comfortable. Let’s see…

I know, I’m working on so many projects, and everyone and their mother is telling me to focus on just one thing at a time. But, see, I know myself. If I focus on only one thing, I’ll get bored. If that thing has a lot of constant change, that’s a different thing.

Maybe I’m wrong. Or right. I don’t know. I guess it’s about testing the waters. I think I’ll try this whole focusing on one thing at a time for a moment. See how that pans out.

Wait…I don’t think I can, considering my projects are already moving along. How’s about one big project, and one small one? Yeah, that makes sense. I’ll do that.

THEN, I can find the time to SLEEP and get back to my creative self, writing poetry and keeping up with this blog. Sounds like a plan. Let’s see how long this one lasts…

OH WAIT! I forgot to ask you… Would you choose money or passion, in your career? Which would you sacrifice? Do you think one leads to other, thus meaning that there’s no sacrifice?
