Poem: Struck By An Arrow

Poem: Struck By An Arrow 960 854 Nadir Keval

There is that simple moment,
When a man sees the woman he fancies,
Open her eyes with a smile in her heart,
Hoping she is thinking of him.

She turns a light pink,
As the tips of her lips
Reach for the skies,
And her smile makes the moonlight
Seem like it’s shine isn’t too bright.

This is the dream I hold deep in my heart,
To have as my truth and my fantasy.
She is like an arrow through my heart,
Except unlike cupid,
She’s a dream turned reality.

I do pray that one day,
I could show her my all,
And let her see that my words,
Are my lesser quality,
As my actions will prove,
That I will always try
my best to be worthy
Of her
And her family.

God-willing, one day,
We will find our way,
And our families will love
Each other as though
they were part of each others’ destiny.

I will pray and pray,
And ask Him to guide us.
So we can see
If we should be
Each others’ passports
To a Heavenly Eternity.

Freedom from Within

Freedom from Within 1920 1200 Nadir Keval

What does it mean to be free? We all have our own definition, based on the conditions our lives are in. For some, it’s being able to sit in your home without the fear of having a military attack destroy your home, for some it’s a battle in your mind, and for others, it’s being able to have a say in your own life’s decisions and path. These matters enslave some of us without us even realizing it. If or when it’s realized, minds go into a state of panic, causing a frantic effort to break free. Every struggle of freedom holds at its core the same goal: to have one’s right to make personal decision made available.

The right to have the final say in everything that you do and pursue in your life is something that is unfortunately a rare thing to see in most parts of the world. How many of us have to tail or our lives and the pursuit of our goals, all to accommodate the people in our lives and their dreams? How many of us pursue the same path drafted out by society for practically everyone of going to school, having a gender-specified hobbies and interests, getting a degree/diploma, working a 9-5 job most likely not in your field of study just to pay off the tens of thousands of dollars in student loans, get married while in severe debt, buy a home on mortgage (increasing your debt), have children (a blessing, but tougher when in debt), grow old hating your job (unless you’re one of the lucky ones), and one day look back and wonder how life passed by so quickly without you even getting the chance to pursue your goals, passions, or challenges? So…that was a dark picture. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure I just described most of our lives, and sadly left many of us depressed. If I did, I apologize. The reason I did that is because unless we hate hell and everything that leads to it, we won’t know how badly we want heaven. Obviously, I’m speaking metaphorically, but you get what I mean.

It’s important for us to find and form our own identities by taking risks and challenging ourselves outside of our comfort zones. It’s far too easy to fall into the norms and patterns created by society. We must ask ourselves what we want out of life, what we hope to accomplish, and then work towards those things. The path that fits you best might even end up being similar to the norm, but what’s important is that you choose and pursue that path out of your own will and desire, and not out of conformity to any expectations.

There are some people in the world whose freedom isn’t an option for them. Even if they work their hardest, put in all the effort they possibly can, they just can’t seem to acquire their freedom. But, for most of us, freedom is possible. It’s about overcoming our personal barriers, created by our minds to hold us back from doing anything unsafe. That, however, isn’t what’s best for our growth, and instead, prevents us from being the best we can be. Recognize how blessed we are to have the ability to embrace our freedom. It will take hard work and fighting our inner souls at times, but it’s a dream many don’t have the opportunity to fulfill.

Evaluate your life and ask yourself what it is you want to accomplish, and what it is that’s holding you back from getting what you want. If you are unhappy, figure out what the cause is and keep your distance from that, or fix the situation to turn it into a source of happiness. I assure you it will be difficult. I assure you it will be painful. I assure you it will have you questioning yourself and your motives time and time again. But if you push through it all, I assure you that it’ll be completely worth it.

Poem: Vision

Poem: Vision 1680 1050 Nadir Keval

When reading this poem, I’d ask that you all take a moment and really embrace the feeling you get from it.

I sit here on my bed,
building up a dream as I close my eye lids,
and find that it seems,
that any thought of happiness
is connected to you…my everything.
I look to my side,
and see you, my wife,
and a smile comes to my face.
You: God’s blessing to me,
are like my test of faith,
as the Lord sees if I’ll keep His angel happy.
Though, in truth, you are human,
I see you as flawless.
No matter your struggles,
No matter your stresses,
You always maintain, and remain…perfect.
I have seen us grow and change many times,
but my vision of you just stays,
like its been paused at the most perfect time.
I look now, to my other side,
and see the image of our love, in our child.
I see pure innocence, someone destined for success.
I see another you, and my smile just won’t digress.
I can now understand and see that God is generous,
to have given me the privilege to be loved by two of His best.
I am thankful to Him…no wait…grateful to Him,
to have placed me in a world,
where my heaven not only awaits me,
but is with me on this earth.
My wife and my child are my reason for living.
Without my spouse, I would find life difficult.
Peace of soul would be foreign,
like life as a man with no language.
As a piece of my soul, you uplifted my spirit.
So that after God and the Prophet,
it’s clear you’re nearest.
I remember, when you worried for your womb,
what would happen to our lives,
in matter as our careers, were we about to lose?
We worried for the future, not giving it a chance,
then our baby entered, and cleaned up our scattered plans.
We came to learn of the true joys of life,
for before our child, we never appreciated life.
Our careers became our second priority,
and the cute smile on that little face,
became our strength for eternity.
We fall more in love every day,
with new reasons for romance,
like, just knowing the other had a good day.
As our lives progress, our love does too,
and throughout the entire process,
our attachment pulls us through.
Our child now, will look to us as examples,
of how to treat others and be successful.
And I can say, that without a doubt,
our baby will find a way to reach the top.
And so, knowing this, I can close my eyes,
and wake to another day, to be embraced by my child and my wife.
For tonight, I’ll just smile about my life,
’cause what’s there to dream for,
when you have everything you could ever ask for in life?

Poem: Reunite

Poem: Reunite 1600 1200 Nadir Keval

What about you?
What about me?
What about us?
They tore us apart,
In ways that would make it impossible to get back in touch.
They told us that we were never meant to be,
So many times, they pierced us with these words.
Love, though these words meant nothing to us,
Perhaps their prayers to separate us,
Came to be because they were so many.
Every person we thought loved us,
Turned their backs and said,
“Learn to love what’s reality,
and stop living in some fantasy.
You are not meant for each other,
You have so many differences.”
But how could they…?
How could they remove us from ourselves?
They said that because of superficial matters,
Things for which they thought we deserved battles,
We were not meant to be.
Age, race, pasts and so-called mistakes.
Things we had no choice over.
Is it our fault one of us was born too early or too late?
Is it our fault one’s skin is dark and the other’s is light?
What’s past is past, we are looking to our future.
And mistakes don’t exist, merely lessons to learn from.
But, I guess their prayers to rid us of each other paid off.
They say sincerity is what makes a dream come true.
And though our marriage was our prayers coming through,
Theirs trumped ours.
And now, I stand at your grave,
And can’t do anything more than
ask God to reunite us in Heaven one day.

Poem: Wishing

Poem: Wishing 2778 2336 Nadir Keval

The people are wishing upon stars,
Seeking success from others.
But I tried those ways,
And found they left me straying,
From what I truly knew all along.

So, I raised my hands up high,
Searched out beyond the skies,
For answers to come my way,
From the One I knew would always stay.
I asked Him to send me someone,
From amongst those He’s made in Heaven,
And guide me towards becoming,
Someone worthy of having,
One of His great creations.

I sought out an opportunity.
Call me selfish, but its my priority.
To ensure that I remain filtratious,
In searching out my one sculpted by the Greatest.
See, that is what I define as accomplishment.
No, a woman isn’t some sort of material presence,
But in fact, a piece of her heart could bring you peace.
Now, for some, that’s speaking bold.
How can you be so sure she won’t leave you cold?

That’s the difference between a man and a child,
One has the sense to ask from God,
The other’s still thinking he can wish upon stars.
So, ask yourself this:
People, will you be wise,
Or will you continue to live as fools in disguise?
