Poem: Poetry I Cannot Write

Poem: Poetry I Cannot Write 1024 768 Nadir Keval

She is the poetry I cannot write.
My pencil refuses to touch the paper.
My thoughts begin to wander in fear,
That I may think too deeply,
And become engulfed in her.

She is the poetry I cannot write.
Her description is too sweet for my lips to hold.
She is, without doubt, the perfect imperfection.
As she is designed in ways that can only make her as unique as she.

She is the poetry I cannot write.
I lower my head out of respect,
As I am still not worthy to lay eyes on her.
Till then, I will prepare to be ready, and God will help me.

She is the poetry I cannot write.
I try my best, but my imagination can only do so much.
And now, I sit in patience,
until the day comes that I am inspired.

Poem: My Miracle

Poem: My Miracle 1280 720 Nadir Keval

This morning is like any other morning,
except for this one minor difference.
Today, I am a husband.
Today, I have a wife.

I wake to seeing you,
and I feel every worry fade,
like the aura that radiates from you,
is to bring light to the darkness I have lived in
throughout my every day.

Suddenly, you open your eyes,
and smile at me,
like I’m a lost love,
that you’ve once again recognized.
At that moment, you whisper,
“Assalaamu alaikum Love,”
wishing that peace be upon me.
Yet, you have no idea,
how you truly have,
brought peace to every part of who I am,
bringing me to life with your serenity.

I think of the moment I first saw you,
How you would be enthralled by your books,
and would make faces at the pages,
out of confusion or excitement over what you had just read.
I smiled, and felt inclined,
to pray and ask the Divine,
if you would be best for me in this and the Next lifetime.

I asked about you,
spoke to our mutual friends,
and found that you had every detail,
of what I sought.
A woman focused and driven,
yet playful and innocent.
A woman decisive and inspired,
by her faith above all else.
A woman so keen on living clean,
that every aspect of your life was motivation,
To be better than I am.
And that’s when I knew,
you were the one I wanted.

You are a blessing,
a reflection of everything that was always missing,
from the others in the past,
though I would be convinced that they would last.
You were pure, and human,
which made you so perfectly balanced.
And so I prayed and prayed,
that if we were to be,
that He would bring us together with ease.

Not too long after,
I was speaking to your father,
asking him if he would allow,
for a man as simple as me,
to have the hand in marriage
of a princess waiting to be queen.

He was pleased,
which truly surprised me,
as I had only experienced obstacles
in circumstances as these.
But instead, he told me,
that he would be honoured
to have a son like me.

And here we are today.
As husband and wife.
Though we have only been together a moment,
compared to the lifetime of moments we hope to share,
I feel blessed and enchanted,
to have witnessed a miracle,
as Allah brought our hearts together,
without fuss having any chance to muster.
And for that, I will say,
“Thank You, Allah,
For making her my wife,
today and every day.”

Note: I’ve been getting a lot of people congratulating me on getting married after reading this poem, but it’s actually a reflection of what I hope to experience when I DO get married in the future, insha Allah (God-willing) – NOT a reflection of something I’ve already experienced. So, thank you for the well-wishes and compliments, but I’m not married just yet 😛

Poem: Eternal Effort

Poem: Eternal Effort 1024 819 Nadir Keval

To be honest,
I thank Allah every day
and wonder how a woman as stunning as her could love me.
Still, I am thankful.
Thankful for Allah placing a love for her in my heart,
because this love makes me want to be more grateful,
and better overall,
as a Muslim and a man,
just to try to make it up to Allah for placing her in my heart.

If she were to stop loving me, I would still be thankful…
If she were to forget me, I would still be thankful…
If she were to leave me, I would still be thankful…
only because having the chance to have spent
even one moment in her heart
is enough to keep me happy in this life and the Next.

But, I believe, without a doubt,
that my fate will be better,
as I mention her in every prayer,
pray for her,
and for her.
I ask that Allah gives me two lifetimes with her,
because this life would not be enough,
but an eternal Hereafter in Jannah will do,
as enough time for me to show Him my gratitude
for her and all that she has brought and will bring.

I await patiently for the arrival
to the answer to my prayers,
so that I may be forever grateful.
Her return will be a gift from Him,
my very own miracle,
when she no longer remains only in my every dream and every thought,
but becomes the wife I’ve wanted for so long, to love and to hold.

Poem: “I Have Been Given Her Love”

Poem: “I Have Been Given Her Love” 1600 1200 Nadir Keval

As long as the sun shines, I will love you.
As long as there is air, I will love you.
As long as the flowers bloom, I will love you.

And if ever those things are lost,
I will remain strong, and put my trust in God.
As He will guide me, and give me strength,
to see that you are one He has sent me to uplift my faith.

When my hope begins to stagger,
He shows me a sign.
When my faith begins to weaken,
He sends me a reminder.

And with you, I have asked Him to make things clear…
To remove you from my heart, if I am not meant to hold you dear.
But, as I ponder, as I pray,
for a love,
I remember in my prayers
asking for a wife that’ll please my Most Beloved.
I ask for a Khadijah or an Aisha,
And I beg Him to make me like Muhammad (SAW) or one of the Sahabah.
I ask Him to guide me, to make me worthy of this answer.
And when I close my eyes, dream or think,
I feel inclined,
To remember the words of the Prophet (SAW) when his Khadijah came to mind:
“This is something from Allah; I have been given her love.”
And when I ask my faith and heart about you, I hear these same words.

I will make you my sun, my air, and my flowers,
For whatever I gain from them will be nothing, unless it is ours.
We will be one, God-willing, some day.
We will be together in Heaven, God-willing, some day.
To you, I will continue to strive in my sincere and loving devotion,
as I believe you have been etched into my heart and fate by the Master of creation.

Poem: Reasons for Love

Poem: Reasons for Love 1024 768 Nadir Keval

Where there is love, there is her name.
Where there is peace, there is her heart.
Where there is happiness, there is her smile.
Where there is hope, there is her spirit.
Where there is awe, there is her soul.
Where there is confusion, there is her fight.
Where there is conviction, there is her faith.

All that she is and all that I am is because of Him.
He has put us through success together, and through sin.
He has shown us our hopes for happiness,
He has shown us our faith through doubtfulness.
He has covered us when Shaitaan has attacked us,
and has sometimes let us fight, so that we may reflect on “us”.
He has put us through ups and downs,
He has given us reasons to smile and frown.

Through all this, He has given us…
Opportunities to run back to Him,
Weapons for when we’d let Shaitaan in,
Guidance if we really sought it,
Peace, unless we fought it.
Being patient and having certainty has been our focus,
but sometimes we get jaded because of those around us.
Let us have faith, and take our leap,
and trust that He will give us wings to fly together to our peace.

When her name is there, it is because of Him.
When her heart is there, it is because of Him.
When her smile is there, it is because of Him.
When her spirit is there, it is because of Him.
When her soul is there, it is because of Him.
When her fight is there, it is because of Him.
When her faith is there, it is because of Him.

And when my love is there, it is because of Him.

Poem: I want to marry her…

Poem: I want to marry her… 1920 1200 Nadir Keval

I want to marry her so that I may enter Paradise with her.

I want to marry her so we can grow together into the best we can be as individuals and as Muslims.

I want to marry her because I believe she will be a phenomenal mother, insha Allah.

I want to marry her so I can prove to Allah and to her, every day, that I am worthy of her as my blessing.

I want to marry her so that we can be covers for one another against the trials of this world.

I may sound selfish, but what can I say,

Marrying her will cause all of my sorrows to stray.

And what do we seek in this life,

other than happiness and a relief from strife.

So, I know that she will bring my life joy,

And with every moment together, Shaitaan’s efforts against us will be destroyed.

Oh Allah, please make her my wife and I her husband,

so that we may please You and through that, please each other.

Ameen.

Relationships: What If?

Relationships: What If? 1280 800 Nadir Keval

So, I was sifting through YouTube when I fell upon this video. I’d say it’s pretty well done, considering I would say that many of us have experienced something similar to this in our lives. At first, I thought, wow, what a great depiction of relationships. Then, I realized that there is much more we could do to approach relationships in a more mature, responsible and stress-free way.

See, Islam’s way to approach a relationship is different, but unfortunately, today, people feel that this is a better approach. It’s a touching story, but in truth, Allah knows what is best, and His advice through the Quran and through the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) is ultimately still more beneficial. If we all learned to just trust in Allah more, we’d find love much easier to find. Allah knows best, and it’s important we remember that we just need to bring our hearts closer to Him, and He will bring us the love we deserve, Insha Allah 🙂

We worry so often about what will happen if we get married to someone that’s not right for us. But, I guarantee that if we do things as Muslims, in the way that Islam has taught us to do things, we won’t lose. I know, I know, the divorce rate amongst Muslims is drastically increasing, but at the same time, have we ever considered that the reason is because we go about getting married in ways that displease Allah? He is the One that can either bless or curse our marriages, so why do we not focus on ensuring that we live out our lives, have our weddings, and build our marriages in ways that He has described as being the righteous and most beneficial way? How many times has Allah promised us that He will protect us if we solely rely on Him? That promise is stronger than any promise a person can give you. So, trust it!

What is there to fear? One of two things will happen if you consider someone: Allah will bring you closer to that person and make marriage come easy, or He will remove that person from your heart and replace them with someone that’s better for you. Either way, it’s a win-win Insha Allah. Focus on building yourself, and if someone is suggested to you, or you’re interested in someone, pray Isthikhaarah and make dua. Then, if you feel inclined towards that person, talk to them bluntly about things. Relationships in Islam are clear-cut. Either you’re into the person or you’re not. It doesn’t take months or years to know if a person is good for you to consider for marriage or not. It takes a moment to say, this person is someone I could consider, or that this person isn’t. Your Isthikhaarah will take effect insha Allah, and things will become clear to you. Do things with Allah in mind, and move forward from there.

Muslims aren’t wusses because we know that we have nothing to worry about except for seeking Allah’s pleasure. We know that Allah has our backs, so we’re supposed to be stress-free. Ever thought that if that’s how we Muslims should be, then all these doubts and concerns that enter our minds when we fear approaching marriage even when we find someone we think would be great for us, might just be the whispers of Shaitaan? Makes ya think, doesn’t it?

Regardless, be straightforward, tell a person how you feel, ask Allah to guide you, and then take steps forward. If the person’s right for you, Allah will make it clear to you if you are reliant on Him. If the person isn’t good for you, He will make it clear to you to steer clear of that person, once again IF you are reliant on Him.

Don’t spend too much time just hanging around. You’re just asking for fitna (temptation/tribulation). The Prophet (pbuh) even said that, “The best thing for two people who love one another is marriage.” (that was me paraphrasing, by the way) Now, I’m not saying that you’ll fall in love right away. Every relationship has its own time for that if it’s meant to be. What I AM saying though, is that if you think someone is good for you, and you’ve done your Isthikhaarah, take steps forward towards making it happen.

Sure, you may be engaged (in the halal way, of course!) for a while, so that you can prep yourself financially or so you can finish school, etc. but at least you will have protected yourself from the ridiculous amount of fitna there is in the world, you will have a confidant and someone you can rely on to be there for you Insha Allah. You will feel more secure too.

Either way, this is just me ranting now, but I truly believe that we should all be more active in approaching marriage in a more Islamically sound manner. Sure, times have changed and society approaches things differently now, but correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Allah say that He has perfected this religion for all of mankind (ie. the people at the time of the Prophet (pbuh), people now, and all those to come in the future until the Day of Judgment)? So, then, who are we to say that we know better than Allah? Right?

This is all just my thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think. And, I pray that Allah gives us all the strength, courage, patience, guidance, and all else we need in order for us to find ease in every step of marriage, and that you all are blessed with the best of spouses. Ameen.

Poem: Reunite

Poem: Reunite 1600 1200 Nadir Keval

What about you?
What about me?
What about us?
They tore us apart,
In ways that would make it impossible to get back in touch.
They told us that we were never meant to be,
So many times, they pierced us with these words.
Love, though these words meant nothing to us,
Perhaps their prayers to separate us,
Came to be because they were so many.
Every person we thought loved us,
Turned their backs and said,
“Learn to love what’s reality,
and stop living in some fantasy.
You are not meant for each other,
You have so many differences.”
But how could they…?
How could they remove us from ourselves?
They said that because of superficial matters,
Things for which they thought we deserved battles,
We were not meant to be.
Age, race, pasts and so-called mistakes.
Things we had no choice over.
Is it our fault one of us was born too early or too late?
Is it our fault one’s skin is dark and the other’s is light?
What’s past is past, we are looking to our future.
And mistakes don’t exist, merely lessons to learn from.
But, I guess their prayers to rid us of each other paid off.
They say sincerity is what makes a dream come true.
And though our marriage was our prayers coming through,
Theirs trumped ours.
And now, I stand at your grave,
And can’t do anything more than
ask God to reunite us in Heaven one day.

Poem: Choice

Poem: Choice 1103 809 Nadir Keval

I choose to be your constant chosen presence.
A presence for which the option of departure is non-existent.
Only, however, in the eyes of the beholder,
For in his view, is only that which he is fond of.
The approach of a leave may become inevitable though,
If we choose the lesser of the options given to us by the Creator.
But how are we to be so sure,
That the choice we make is worth it to endure.
When we are placed in a position,
Where the rest of our lives is based on this decision.
I begin to think on any options for solution,
And find it difficult to find a resurrection,
Of some source of hope,
Definitive as a mountain-top, with a hardly steep slope.
I turn to the only source of any sign of anything;
To God, knowing that He can find the resolve for everything.
My connection to you, feels like a tightrope,
Unfortunate, dependant, for your next move decides my fate’s hope.
Though, strongly held to you, my love for God is stronger,
For my faith in Him ropes around me,
And as time progresses, the wrapping becomes tighter.
So much that it brings me perfect warmth and comfort,
Just enough though, ‘cause at no point would it suffocate my heart.
Now, to return to the question at hand:
Are we making the right choice if we choose to walk hand in hand?
Of course I’m speaking of marriage,
And not of friends of the same sorts.
Where people relate through means lacking importance,
Instead of where the contracts are signed,
With the greatest witness being the Divine.
In agreeing that separation is never an option,
For we will be choosing to stick together, through all of the obstructions.
A relationship in which the physical may remain,
Or nature may take over, making beauty refrain,
From the resistance of resisting a change.
Situations may occur,
To which we may never concur.
But sometimes, hurt is what makes a heart swell,
And through that it grows, helping us understand the better times well.
Happiness is based, on the grasp we have on life,
Sometimes we hold it tightly, sometimes we hold it light.
This massaging motion, brings out emotions,
We may never understand.
Where we may miss out on love, or fall into it,
Based on destiny, that’s just the nature of man.
All of these words are my word to you,
To reassure you that my faith in us holds truth.
But us, is relative to our faith in God,
For us can only become an us, if we leave it to God.
Sooner than later, we must come to a decision,
For later may become sooner, and we may miss our chances,
For a life together in Heaven.
Many others will come and go, to and from our doorsteps,
And I can say from mine and others’ experiences,
That we may miss other chances of Heaven,
If we don’t determine our next steps.
The future is predetermined, but undetermined by us,
But we’ve had more than enough time to contemplate about us.
So let’s take some time, and break apart our minds,
To think:
Do I dare take the chance of drowning,
Enough to trust,
That my Love will catch me before I sink?
