nourishment

Poem: Fluid

Poem: Fluid 3488 3438 Nadir Keval

Rivers flowing into the vast waters,

Like the soul through life, it scatters.

Searching for fantasies of happiness so pure,

Sometimes on paths as refreshing as the morning dew,

And sometimes so harsh, like hurricanes we’re not ready to endure.

Flowing through me,

Nourishing every ounce of my body.

But though it alone holds this ability,

To be what I will always need,

It has the strength to hurt me,

Like salt on a wound, healed by the sea.

Healed – Though it hurt me, it healed.

This is the power of water,

So fluid, it takes hold of whatever

May come its way, or tries to take its place,

Knowing that with it, obstacles just pass by.

Washing out life’s pores I try,

To cleanse myself of the scum of the world.

It is my savior,

Water – my savior.

Quenching my thirst when my mouth goes dry,

Soaking it with security, readjusting my confidence, my pride.

So much, but just enough to get me back on my feet,

Walking on water…unbelievable.

YES! They thought I couldn’t make it,

But now I see, even the impossible can be.

Gone unnoticed, my water is my necessity.

Meaning more to me that I could ever mean,

‘cause without it, there would be no me.

Lately though, water’s been confusing me.

Like a lake in a drought, I’ve become empty.

One day, flooding my being with love and nourishment,

And the next, leaving me wondering where it went.

I’m guessing this is a new test from God,

Seeing if I’m grateful for what I’ve got.

Or maybe it’s to see,

If I have faith that it could be,

Possible for me to live, in trust and patience,

With water as my want, and not as my need.

Upon losing my hydration,

I’ve come to the realization,

That water is my want, faith in God is my want.

As long as I can survive through these times,

Of drought, with a gulp or even the smallest drop,

I’ll pass the test of trust and patience, and trust IN patience,

And will be rewarded with Gardens underneath which rivers flow.

I would love to be engulfed by water,

Not drowned, but ONE with water.

Though this is true, I want to naturally flow to,

Working hard to be deserving of it,

But great things come to those who wait for it,

So, I’ll work hard to hold off but strong from yearning for it.

Poem: Sunshine

Poem: Sunshine 2560 1600 Nadir Keval

Have you ever felt like Allah has given you the sun?
The light with which you hope to see?
The warmth through which you find strength?

What happens when you get sun stroke?
What happens when the light becomes so bright, that it blinds us?
What happens when the warmth begins to burn?

I cannot say that I am ungrateful.
Allah sent me the sun as a test.
Provided me good from His bounty.
Provided me difficulty from His wisdom.
All with reason:
Would I learn to thank Allah?
Will I turn away when He has given me the opportunity to stay?

You see, it is quite simple.
All I need is the Quran and Sunnah.
It is my air and nourishment.
No sun could replace Allah.
Why?
Because the One who provides cannot be the provided.
Instead, He is the Provider and the Protector.
That is one of His many blessings.
So to Him, I beg and plead,
That I continue to recieve the bitter and the sweet.
That He please continue to bless me.
For without Him, I am merely His slave defined as weak.

Poem: She was

Poem: She was 1600 1424 Nadir Keval

We met on a day that cannot be described,
Because I cannot remember the weather of that day.
Why? Well, I was enveloped in her eyes,
As though her every blink was a new sunrise,
Not too overwhelming, nor too dull.
She was refreshing in her presence alone.
A hidden waterfall, in the driest of deserts.
I asked her name,
And she muttered words that reminded me of dreams I’d dreamt.
But never before had I met her.
So, where had I seen her?
Time passed, and I felt a closeness to her soul,
Despite the fact that we hadn’t been in touch for so long.
The mere thought of her had me urging
To find the courage to speak to her again.
I walked towards her, with my head lowered,
But my chest held out with courage,
And that deep breath I’d taken,
To not need to gasp while speaking to her.
See, I had realized from the past,
That for some reason…she was the only one
that made me weak in my knees,
that made me stutter in my speech;
a man full of stature turned into a statue.
So, I asked,
Did you know that when you speak,
It’s as though your voice is too melodious for your mouth to hold?
Did you know that you in your entirety
are an entity reflective of the highest forms of beauty?
I promise you that,
I will rip through the clouds to find the sun,
And give it to you as a dowry.
I will take the constellations,
And use them to provide you with never-ending nourishment.
I will spend the nights, counting the stars,
To add them to the equation
I try to develop to understand how God made you.
Did you know that you stretch the abilities of mathematics?
See, you have me tongue-twisted,
With words of love dripping off my lips.
I ask you to be my diamond,
The one to be my new moon,
As I see you, the light I seek in this world of darkness.
I’ve been told that men and women have been created as cloaks of one another.
I would be pleased to cover you.
So…may I please, cover you?
