What about you?
What about me?
What about us?
They tore us apart,
In ways that would make it impossible to get back in touch.
They told us that we were never meant to be,
So many times, they pierced us with these words.
Love, though these words meant nothing to us,
Perhaps their prayers to separate us,
Came to be because they were so many.
Every person we thought loved us,
Turned their backs and said,
“Learn to love what’s reality,
and stop living in some fantasy.
You are not meant for each other,
You have so many differences.”
But how could they…?
How could they remove us from ourselves?
They said that because of superficial matters,
Things for which they thought we deserved battles,
We were not meant to be.
Age, race, pasts and so-called mistakes.
Things we had no choice over.
Is it our fault one of us was born too early or too late?
Is it our fault one’s skin is dark and the other’s is light?
What’s past is past, we are looking to our future.
And mistakes don’t exist, merely lessons to learn from.
But, I guess their prayers to rid us of each other paid off.
They say sincerity is what makes a dream come true.
And though our marriage was our prayers coming through,
Theirs trumped ours.
And now, I stand at your grave,
And can’t do anything more than
ask God to reunite us in Heaven one day.
Truly Allah has blessed me with you.
With you I have better embraced the Value of the One
through the existence of two.
With you, I have learned the true meaning of love.
It’s simple: It’s loving you for the sake of the Above.
What better emotion is there for me to share?
To love another for the sake of Allah is a guarantee for no despair.
Have you ever felt like Allah has given you the sun?
The light with which you hope to see?
The warmth through which you find strength?
What happens when you get sun stroke?
What happens when the light becomes so bright, that it blinds us?
What happens when the warmth begins to burn?
I cannot say that I am ungrateful.
Allah sent me the sun as a test.
Provided me good from His bounty.
Provided me difficulty from His wisdom.
All with reason:
Would I learn to thank Allah?
Will I turn away when He has given me the opportunity to stay?
You see, it is quite simple.
All I need is the Quran and Sunnah.
It is my air and nourishment.
No sun could replace Allah.
Why?
Because the One who provides cannot be the provided.
Instead, He is the Provider and the Protector.
That is one of His many blessings.
So to Him, I beg and plead,
That I continue to recieve the bitter and the sweet.
That He please continue to bless me.
For without Him, I am merely His slave defined as weak.
Seeking out solutions through conscious trips,
we lose focus on taking those short sips…
drip, drip, drip…gulp.
It’s unthought of,
but sometimes less thought,
catches the attention of the solvent,
and catalyzes our sought out solution.
The people are wishing upon stars,
Seeking success from others.
But I tried those ways,
And found they left me straying,
From what I truly knew all along.
So, I raised my hands up high,
Searched out beyond the skies,
For answers to come my way,
From the One I knew would always stay.
I asked Him to send me someone,
From amongst those He’s made in Heaven,
And guide me towards becoming,
Someone worthy of having,
One of His great creations.
I sought out an opportunity.
Call me selfish, but its my priority.
To ensure that I remain filtratious,
In searching out my one sculpted by the Greatest.
See, that is what I define as accomplishment.
No, a woman isn’t some sort of material presence,
But in fact, a piece of her heart could bring you peace.
Now, for some, that’s speaking bold.
How can you be so sure she won’t leave you cold?
That’s the difference between a man and a child,
One has the sense to ask from God,
The other’s still thinking he can wish upon stars.
So, ask yourself this:
People, will you be wise,
Or will you continue to live as fools in disguise?
I’ve been searching,
A long time wanting,
For someone to come my way,
brightening my day.
I looked around me,
Thinking that there’s gotta be,
A woman wanting to be found,
By the man who could see,
That every ounce of beauty in her is unique.
I saw you, and you stood out,
Your image itself showed me what true beauty was about.
I could hear you yelling out my name,
Not through your lips,
But by how you made my heart believe you had it claimed.
I saw you all the time,
But never did it cross my mind,
That I could ever want you,
To be more than just an acquaintance of mine.
Slowly, your every attribute had me,
You’re more perfect than anyone could be.
Through all this time, how didn’t I see,
That you’re the one girl I’d always need.
We’ve been blessed with everything possible,
We’re compatible, mature and responsible.
Now, all we gotta do is,
Wait it out, ‘cause,
We got goals in life,
Trying to live out what we love.
I get that baby,
But I want you to know,
That I want you as my lady,
As the one I’ll never want to let go.
I hope you feel the same,
But I’ma leave it to God,
‘cause only He knows where our hearts will remain.
I see that there’s no beauty like yours,
‘cause everytime I look at you, time takes a pause.
I want you to be that light in my life,
To be that warmth,
Like the Prophet got from his wives.
God’s created you so perfectly,
Probably as my life’s definition of beauty.
But He’s also given you my favourite type of soul,
Like Khadijah to the Rasul,
I want you to be my world.
I know it’s been a lil while coming, but here’s my recital of one of my favourite poems, “Guarded”. To read it, you can find it at Poem: Guarded
Hey guys!
So, I FINALLY did it! I posted my first video blog on youtube. Comment to let me know what you think!
Gorgeous.
That’s how she’s seen,
As a depiction of beauty.
But I wonder at times,
If that vision,
Is purely physical.
To be an intellectual,
Speaking to each other as equals,
Is easy in most scenarios.
But when I think to how your words would leave,
Your mouth like discarded thoughts of past…
Regret and disappointment exist,
In myself letting things last
As long as they did.
Soulful.
I wish I could say this matched her description.
But truth be told,
That’s what holds me back from affection.
When looking into your eyes,
All I see is lies.
Within yourself,
You have walked past all reason,
And embraced all that makes you displeasing.
There appear to be walking mannequins,
Strolling through your mind,
Walking into positions,
That develop you into a mime.
Your physical encompasses your identity,
And without saying anything,
You have shown the world everything.
When you decide to speak
Your truth, and be human,
Let me know.
Maybe then,
I’ll consider a hoping chance with you.
But until then, please remain mute.
That way you can stop bothering me with your sad excuses.
I do love you,
That is without doubt.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t have married you.
But you left me with no other thought,
Than thinking that I’ve lost my love.
Your still here,
But I’m scared your soul’s left.
Please bring it back to me.
I feel I’ve lost half of me.
And now I need we back,
So our unified soul can get on track.
